Is your pool ready for inspection?

To ensure your pool is safe we have devised a few questions which will ensure that you will most likely pass inspection. Please use these questions as a guideline only, contact us to resolve any non conforming items. Feel free to print this checklist.

Around the pool

Is there a sign with the current resuscitation (CPR) techniques that can be easily read from inside the pool area?

Is the pool fence clear of climbable items such as barbeques, trees, rocks, shrubs and chairs within 900mm clear zone from the outside and an additional 12000mm clear zone?

Are there any climbable objects such as potted plants, barbeques, chairs or stored items within the 300mm clear zone on the inside of the pool fence?

Is your pool registered on the Swimming Pool Register?

Gate

Are you aware it is dangerous and illegal to prop the pool gate open?

Is the pool locking mechanism at least 1500mm above ground level, or if located inside the gate at least 1200mm above ground level and at least 150mm below the top of the gate (if there is no hand hold) and covered by an approved shield?

Does the gate open out and away from the pool area?

 YES

Is the pool gate lock in good working condition, so once it is closed it cannot be forced or pulled open?

Does all the pool gates self close and self lock from any open position?

Fence or barrier

If the house forms part of the pool barrier, does the wall have windows or doors not protected by a locking security screen that open more than 100mm?

Is your pool fence well maintained and is it a safe and effective pool fence? (eg. no holes, broken rails)
